Liverpool thump United 5-0

United were 4-0 down at halftime for the first time in the Premier League after 45 minutes of shambolic defending and the sense of chaos was added to when substitute Paul Pogba was sent off on the hour mark after entering play after the break.

The United hierarchy has shown faith in Solskjaer throughout difficult periods in his nearly three years in charge of the club but will come under pressure to rethink their loyalty to their former player after such an embarrassing performance and result.

Ronaldo scores twice as United go top

Ronaldo, who returned to United from Juventus last month, opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime, while Newcastle drew level on 56 minutes.

Ronaldo restored United's lead with his second -- showing power and speed as he latched on to a through ball from Luke Shaw and fired through the keepers legs before reeling off to celebrate with his team mates in front of an ecstatic Stretford End.

United win keeps City waiting in EPL

The result left United second on 70 points from 34 games, 10 behind City who have played a game more and missed a chance to secure the title after they suffered a 2-1 home defeat by Chelsea.

It also stretched United's unbeaten away league run to 25 games but came at a cost as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed captain Harry Maguire may be ruled out of the Europa League final against Spanish side Villarreal on May 26.

Man United v Liverpool match postponed after fans storm pitch

"Following discussion between the Police, the Premier League, Trafford Council and the clubs, our match against Liverpool has been postponed due to safety and security considerations around the protest today," United said in a statement after the game was called off.

"Discussions will now take place with the Premier League on a revised date for the fixture."

An hour after the scheduled 1530 GMT kickoff, both sets of players were still in their hotels. The Lowry Hotel, where United's players were preparing for the match, was also the scene of a large anti-Glazer protest.

Man United beat Roma

United have scored five unanswered second-half goals to beat the Italians 6-2 in the first leg of their last four tie at Old Trafford.

Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes both found the back of the net twice, while Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood also scored to erase a 2-1 halftime deficit.

Villarreal have beaten Arsenal 2-1 in the first leg of the other semi-final in Spain.

Nicolas Pepe scored what could be a crucial away goal for Arsenal midway through the second-half after Villarreal struck twice in the first half an hour.

Paris St-Germain striker his happiest this season amid transfer speculation

The Brazil forward, 29, is yet to sign a new contract at PSG with his current deal running out next summer.

He has been linked with a move away, including a return to his former club Barcelona who he left for PSG in a £200m, world-record deal in 2017.

"This year PSG has really improved and we have worked a lot to keep improving," Neymar said.

"I really feel great, really happy. I am most happy this season.

"We really want to win the Champions League."

Top European football clubs announce breakaway Super League

The Six Premier League clubs feature among the founding members, along with Spain's Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and Italy's Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan, the organisation, called Super League, said in a statement.

The move, which has been heavily criticised by football authorities and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron, sets up a rival to UEFA's Champions League competition.

Three more clubs will join the Super League for the inaugural season, with a further five teams to qualify.

English clubs cruise into Europa League final four

United have beaten Granada 2-0 in the second leg of their quarter-final tie at Old Trafford to progress 4-0 on aggregate.

Arsenal have beaten Slavia Prague 5-1 on aggregate after racing to a 4-0 win in the Czech Republic.

The two English clubs are on opposite sides of the draw and could meet in next month's Europa League final.

Manchester United will face Roma for a place in the final after the Italians overcame Ajax in the quarters, while Villareal have beaten Dinamo Zagreb to book a meeting with Arsenal.

Man Utd pull off comeback win

The result left second-placed United on 60 points from 30 games, 14 behind leaders Manchester City who have played a game more and four ahead of third-placed Leicester City.

Tottenham Hotspur earlier missed the chance to move up to provisional fourth place after relegation-threatened Newcastle United held them to a 2-2 draw with a late equaliser from substitute Joe Willock at St James' Park.

Leicester beat Manchester United to advance to first semifinal in 39 years

It leaves the Europa League as the last realistic chance this season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to win his first trophy since taking charge of United in 2018.

But Leicester, who are third in the Premier League and a point behind United, will face Southampton in the last four of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium next month.
