JK Rowling apologises over Trump disabled boy tweets

A video emerged that appeared to show the US president refusing to shake the boy's hand at the White House.

"How stunning, and how horrible, that Trump cannot bring himself to shake the hand of a small boy who only wanted to touch the president," the author said.

But Marjorie Kelly Weer, mother of Monty, said Rowling's interpretation of the clip was wrong.

The Harry Potter author tweeted: "Re: my tweets about the small boy in a wheelchair whose proffered hand the president appeared to ignore in press footage.

Trump criticises China over North Korea

Writing on Twitter, he said he would not allow China to "do nothing" about the reclusive state.

His comments came a day after Pyongyang test-fired its second intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in a month.

It later claimed the test proved that the entire US was within striking range of its weaponry.

On Monday, Mr Trump had called his attorney general "beleaguered".

In the latest attack, the president said in a tweet on Tuesday that Mr Sessions had "taken a VERY weak position" on investigating his former opponent in the 2016 presidential election, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, over her use of a private email server.

Trump and Putin held undisclosed talks

They spoke towards the end of a formal dinner but the White House has not revealed what was discussed.

President Trump has condemned media revelations of the talks as "sick".

The two leaders' relationship is under scrutiny amid allegations of Russian interference in the US election.

US intelligence agencies believe Moscow tried to tip the election in Mr Trump's favour, something denied by Russia. Mr Trump has rejected allegations of any collusion.

"State visits are different from a normal visit and at a time when the President of the USA has policies that many in our country disagree with, I am not sure it is appropriate for our government to roll out the red carpet," Khan told CNN in an interview Monday.

Last week, the White House confirmed that Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom has been delayed until 2018.

The delay comes amid concern that there will be mass protests against Trump in the British capital.
