Garamuts withdraw from qualifier following players’ suspension

Cricket PNG regretfully advised supporters that the national under 19 team was withdrawn from the ICC EAP under 19 World Cup Qualifiers.

“This is due to a number of players being suspended for internal disciplinary reasons and failing to adhere to our strict codes of conduct,” stated CPNG.

“We will address this issue further on return to Port Moresby and will not field any questions until that time.

Cricket PNG executives re-sign deals

Chair of CPNG Helen Macindoe announced the news recently at Cricket Haus, Amini Park.

“Our Board is very pleased to know we’re going to have both Greg and Joe on board for at least the next couple of years. Most people know about the recent achievements of the Barras and Lewas, and the level of competition they’re going to be exposed to over next two years.

High profile cricketers in PNG

Mitchell Starc, Alyssa Healy and Dean Jones are in the country for various cricket and promotional activities.

Mitchell Starc is the current Australian left-arm fast bowler, Alyssa Healy is the current Australian women’s batswoman/wicket-keeper while Dean Jones is a former Australian Test Legend.

The trio will be in Port Moresby for a couple of days, where it is hoped that their presence will help boost the sport of cricket further.

Yesterday’s dinner was attended by sponsors of Cricket PNG as well as the Hebou PNG Barramundis and the City Pharmacy Lewas.
