Bill Cosby: Nine women sue former comedian in Nevada over sexual abuse

The women say the former actor and comedian drugged and assaulted them in homes, dressing rooms and hotels in Nevada between 1979 and 92.

The state has recently scrapped its time limit for filing such claims.

Mr Cosby's spokesman said they were motivated by an "addiction to massive amounts of media attention and greed".

It is the latest in a string of civil and criminal cases against the 85-year-old former star, who enjoyed huge fame in the 1980s and 90s thanks to his sitcom The Cosby Show.

Bill Cosby found guilty of sexually abusing a teen at Playboy Mansion

The Los Angeles County jury delivered the verdict in favour of Judy Huth, who is now 64, and awarded her US$500,000.

“It’s been torture,” Huth said of the seven-year legal fight. “To be ripped apart, you know, thrown under the bus and backed over. This, to me, is such a big victory.”

Jurors found that Cosby intentionally caused harmful sexual contact with Huth, that he reasonably believed she was under 18, and that his conduct was driven by unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in a minor.

Bill Cosby 'pounced' on teen in Playboy Mansion

Mr Cosby, 85, is embroiled in a civil lawsuit over a claim he sexually assaulted Judy Huth, now 64, at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1975.

The case is one of the last remaining legal actions against Mr Cosby, who has faced numerous abuse claims.

He has denied any assault took place, and is not expected to testify.

According to a lawsuit filed by Ms Huth in 2014, the incident took place when she was 16 years old, days after she met Mr Cosby at a park near Los Angeles where he was shooting a film.

Bill Cosby defends TV wife Phylicia Rashad after she celebrated his release

Phylicia Rashad, who starred in The Cosby Show, tweeted on Wednesday that "a terrible wrong has been righted".

The tweet was then removed. A follow-up post said she "fully supported sexual abuse survivors coming forward".

Cosby has defended Rashad after Howard University, where she is a dean, said her first tweet "lacked sensitivity".

The university, based in Washington DC, issued a statement that read: "Survivors of sexual assault will always be our first priority.

Bill Cosby to be freed from prison after court throws out sexual assault conviction

The decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court came after Cosby had served more than two years of a potential three- to 10-year sentence in a state prison following his 2018 conviction.

The 83-year-old comedian and actor was best known for his role as the lovable husband and father in the 1980s television comedy series The Cosby Show, earning him the nickname "America's Dad."

But his family-friendly reputation was shattered after dozens of women accused him of sexual assault over a period of decades.

Bill Cosby vows no remorse, expects to serve 10-year maximum for sexual assault

Cosby is serving three to 10 years in a state prison near Philadelphia after a jury last year convicted him of sexually assaulting a Temple University employee in 2004. The 82-year-old says the Pennsylvania parole board is "not going to hear me say that I have remorse". He thinks it’s therefore unlikely he’ll be released early.

He made the comments in a phone interview today with BlackPressUSA as he appeals his felony conviction and sex offender status.

Legal experts say sex offenders typically must show remorse to be considered for parole.

Bill Cosby slammed for unusual Father's Day tweet

The disgraced comedian, who is serving time behind bars for drugging and raping Andrea Constand in 2004, shared the bizarre message on his official Twitter and Instagram accounts.

It began: "Hey, Hey, Hey...It's America's Dad."

The tweet appears to be in reference to Cosby's role as family man Cliff Huxtable on the top-rated The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992, for which he became known as "America's Dad".

"I know it's late, but to all of the Dads... It's an honour to be called a Father," he continued.

A look inside Bill Cosby’s prison cell

Following his sentencing, Cosby was transferred to Phoenix's State Correctional Institute (SCI), a maximum security prison.

On his first day in the facility, the legally blind 81-year-old reportedly had a hot dog bun thrown at his face, and fell down some stairs because he wasn't being guided.

Cosby is being kept in isolation and has not yet been assigned a bunkmate out of concern for his safety.

Cosby, accuser in court for start of sentencing

Cosby was the first celebrity to go to trial in the #MeToo era and could be the first to go to prison — perhaps for the rest of his days — after being convicted in April of violating Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

Cosby, looking grim, walked into the courthouse on the arm of his longtime spokesman as protesters shouted at him. Constand arrived a short time later.

Bill Cosby found guilty of sexual assault in retrial

The actor, 80, has been on trial for drugging and assaulting ex-basketball player Andrea Constand in 2004.

Cosby, the first major black actor on primetime TV, will remain out of jail until he is sentenced, the judge ruled.

He unleashed an expletive-filled rant after the verdict, as prosecutors argued he should be denied bail.

The prosecutor argued that he should be held because he is "somebody who has unlimited wealth" and could flee on a private plane.

"He doesn't have a plane," Cosby then erupted, adding a vulgarity which he directed at the prosecutor.
