Representing the Group of 77 and China and special envoy of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Virachai Plasai said they believe that closer cooperation and solidarity with the ACP members is desirable as they reinforce their efforts to influence the agenda of the international community.

“Let’s continue to work together guided by the great and noble principles which unite us,” he said.

The Ministers agreed on the Draft Agenda and program of the Leaders’ Summit which held today 31^st May and 1^st June 2016 in Port Moresby.

The Joint Meeting was co-chaired by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Papua New Guinea, Rimbink Pato, and H.E. Ingrid Olga Ghislaine Ebouka-Babackas, Minister of Planning, Statistics and Regional Integration of the Republic of Congo and President-in-office of the ACP Council of Ministers.

Pato in a news conference this afternoon said they will set the discussion part for ACP government leaders tomorrow.    

“We will be advising our leaders on the development issues in terms of the political and organisational structure that will impact ACP group because come 2020, the Cotonou (Partnership) Agreement will come to an end.   

In a media conference this afternoon, Opposition leader Don Polye said: “Our people are very friendly as we are the Melanesian people and accept our visitors and friends with open arms.”

He said PNG is an interesting place to visit as there are many business opportunities and friendly people.

This is the second time PNG is hosting the ACP.
