USA coach confident heading into the quarterfinals

USA Coach Michelle French believes her team have yet to play their best soccer after qualifying for the next stage of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The three time champions and France qualified for the quarter-finals levelled on five points apiece on the Group C point’s ladders. But according to FIFA.COM,  the pair level at the top on points and goals only for USA to finish as group-winners on Fair Play criteria, having picked up one fewer yellow card.

From their group outings, USA recorded two draw and a win to qualify for the next stage.

“We did not have an easy game, each team were different from one another. We still have our best soccer to come,” French said.

The Americans drew with Ghana on Monday evening at Sir John Guise Stadium.

“Ghana is extremely unique and athletic; we went into play with a game plan to stop their speed which our backline did well,” the USA coach said.
