Tahiti beat Mexico to bounce back from Italy defeat

Tahiti’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup dream lives on after they put in a convincing performance against CONCACAF champions Mexico with a 6-1 victory in Group B in Paraguay.

Following a disappointing 12-4 defeat to Italy in their opener, the Tikia Toa dominated from the outset with Gervais Chan-Kat scoring a brace—his second catching the eye with a display of close control combined with a calm finish—to lead the team to a crucial victory.

Mexico scored their first goal of the tournament in the third period of the match through Jose Vizcarra, but it ended up being mere consolation for Ramon Raya’s charges, especially after Tearii Labaste, Heimanu Taiarui and Patrick Tepa added three more in the final period for the Oceania champions.

Tahiti will face Uruguay in their final group match on Monday evening.
