The Digicel sponsored Nauru Powerlifting Federation sent a team of 31 lifters to compete in the Asia Pacific Championship that was held in Gold Coast, Australia last week.
The event was very successful as it has given the opportunity for local lifters to compete from Sub Juniors up to Masters categories and to experience competing at international levels against 700 other strong lifters from 14 other countries.
In addition personal best records and Oceania records were also set by Nauruan lifters.
Team Nauru won 17 gold, 14 silver and 1 bronze medal, total of 32 medals, including five medals won from the bench only competition.
The team also won 7 of the Best lifters awards
