Korea DPR makes top eight, PNG bows out

Korea DPR has made it through to the quarter finals of the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup defeating home team Papua New Guinea 7-1 in the last match of Group A.

The match was played in front of a crowd of 9,231  who were out to support the home side and witness their last appearance in the tournament.

PNG's only goal was scored through forward Nicollete Ageva who made history scoring PNG's first goal in the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup underway in Port Moresby.

Korea DPR dominated the game leading at half time 4-1 and scoring three more goals in the second half.

The Koreans were the first to score six minutes into the game through forward Un Sim Ri to open up the scor board 1-0.

PNG bounced back to score its first goal ever in the tournament through Ageva.

Ageva scored a memorable goal 12 minutes into the game to level the score 1-1.

The PNG forward made a clear shot sweeping the ball past the goal keeper straight into the net surprising many fans.

The crowds  then got onto their feet cheering the home team on.

Korea DPR fought back to score its second goal 2-1 through So Hyang Kim in the 37th minutes.

The Koreans third and fourth goal came in the four minutes extra time through Hyo Sim Ju and Kim, who scored her second goal to take North Korea to lead at half-time 4-1.

Korea DPR continued to dominate the game in the second half when Kim scored her third goal in the 52nd minute to extend her team's lead 5-1.

Jong Sim Wi scored the sixth goal for Korea DPR in the 65th minute to put the Group A leaders well ahead in the game.

PNG put up a good fight and strong defense but the Koreans were too good in attack and technic.

Korea DPR scored it's final goal in the last minutes of play through Hyang Sim Sung to extend their lead 7-1 at fulltime.

Live Your Goals Player of the Match was awarded to Kim for her outstanding performance.
