Footballer’s next level of attainment

Juggling studies and sport is something most Papua New Guineans can be quite challenging but for Papua New Guinea footballer Wira Wama, it was a testimony and history set for himself and his family.

His dream became reality when he graduated on Sunday with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital Media Marketing from Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wisconsin.

“It was a good feeling accomplishing something apart from football, especially a degree in education,” Wama said. “I never thought I would come this far but I can only say that God is so gracious, merciful and faithful to me.”

Discipline, commitment and patience have brought him this far.

“I would say all dream, success and compliments are vanity if you do not have Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour,” the footballer said.

“So, accept Christ in your life and continue from there by seeking His will, plan and purpose for your life and he will fulfill the desires of your heart,” added Wama

Wama last represented Papua New Guinea in the 2016 OFC Nations Cup before returning to USA to complete his studies.

He is now involved as the assistant coach for the Maranatha Baptist University women’s soccer team and will train with Milwaukee Bavarian FC, one of the best soccer club in Wisconsin state in US Premier League this summer.

Wama said he is so thankful for the University and everyone who contributed to his achievement.
