Evander Holyfield's son Elijah arrested on drug charges

The son of former world heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield has been arrested on drug charges.

Elijah Holyfield was on Monday arrested on multiple misdemeanour drug charges after the University of Georgia second year student was caught by campus police with less than one ounce of marijuana and paraphernalia.

The 20-year-old university student was a promising young American football player and has been banned for one game following the arrest.

Holyfield rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown in a recent game, and coach Kirby Smart said the light had come on, hinting at a short-yardage role.

"It seems he is running faster, more powerful, more comfortable," Smart said.

"He's just a bowling ball, man. He's really physical, especially in the red area."

Holyfield was a four-star recruit and played in five games as a university freshman.
