Brazilian duo make first appearance with Solomon Islands Marist FC

Two Brazilian players have helped Marist Football Club in Solomon Island to win 6-0 against West Honiara FC in a friendly match on Saturday.

The duo, Diego Maximo and Marcelo Oliveira arrived in Honiara last Thursday and made an impressive performance in their first appearance.

Feeling excited about their first appearance they assured the club that they are now part of the team and will make sure to help the team win the Telekom S League and qualify for the OFC Champion League.

“We want to let you know that we are very happy to be here and be part of the team.

“I know how strong this team is because I have played against you guys in the OFC champion league,” Maximo told his team mates.

He said one of the reasons he accepted the call to join the club is because the players in Solomon Islands have similar skills like the Brazilians.

He said he has travelled a lot playing football in many countries around the world and he have seen quality of football in Solomon Islands which they are privilege to be part of it.

Oliveira added that the most important thing they want to help the club is to win back the title.

Last year Marist FC won the Telekom S-league which qualified them for the OFC champion league.

“I can’t wait to start playing games and work with my new team mates,” Marcelo said.

The duo have also had a stint with Digicel Amicale FC in Vanuatu.
