More teams expected for Nauru rugby women’s sevens 2nd tag tournament

A few more teams are expected to register for the Nauru Ruby Union Women's Sevens tag tournament that will be held on Saturday.

The Secretary of Nauru Rugby Union, Unique Harris says team registration is open to all, with the option of registering a full team, or an individual player being registered in an existing team.

The Dream Team, TMA, YOK, T-Girls and Anibare Girls competed in the first tournament last month and they are expected to return for the second one.

Harris says at the end of the one-day tournament, Nauru Rugby Union received many positive feedback from the players and from the spectators on the day.

She adds it was to the extent where a request was made for the introduction of Women's only Rugby Clinic in between the monthly tournaments for the purpose of better equipping the women with basic knowledge of the game and rugby skills.

NRU is now hosting rugby clinics every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6.30pm which are open to all women.

NRU in conjunction with its "Get Into Rugby" program, aims to promote rugby to all, irrespective of gender, age and experience.

Harris says rugby builds character, discipline, teamwork and health awareness all whilst having fun.
