The United States Government has congratulated Nauru on its 50th year of independence.
US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson sent a congratulatory message saying the two countries have enjoyed longstanding friendship and valuable cooperation.
“We look forward to strengthening our relationship during this landmark year and beyond as the Republic of Nauru assumes the role of chair of the Pacific Islands Forum,” Tillerson said.
Nauru celebrates 50 years as an independent nation today, 31 January 2018.
