NZ gift to Nauru to mark 50 years

The New Zealand Government is giving Nauru's Intergenerational Trust Fund $US1.46 million dollars to mark the island's 50th anniversary of independence.

Foreign Minister Winston Peters said the contribution recognises New Zealand's shared history and ongoing connection with the people of Nauru.

Pacific Peoples Minister, Aupito William Sio, is representing New Zealand at the celebrations.
