Nauru's president wants to extend parliamentary term

Nauru's president has proposed changing the constitution to increase a government's parliamentary term from three to four years.

Baron Waqa argues the amendment would provide better government and better policy making.

The bill has been referred to the Constitutional Review Committee for consideration.

Changes to the constitution require the support of two thirds of voters in a referendum.
