Nauru President Waqa delivers Christmas message of love and generosity

Nauru President Baron Waqa has delivered the end of year Christmas message of love quoting the Bible’s John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son,” was the beginning of the president’s message to the nation, underscoring that Nauruans are proud to embrace being Christians, especially at this time of celebrating the birth of Christ.

President Waqa encouraged brotherly love emphasising that Christmas is a time of happiness, a time for giving and a time for renewing.

Christmas 2018 is particularly special for Nauruans as they continue to celebrate the nation’s 50th anniversary of independence.

The president encouraged fellow citizens to embrace the true meaning of Christmas and to continue celebrating and giving, quoting the Bible’s message it is better to give than to receive.

His Excellency said the government will continue to work with the people of Nauru highlighting the achievements of the past year and thanked everyone who had assisted in 2018.

President Waqa encouraged a positive start to the New Year for the children of Nauru as they take the country through another 50 years in peace and joy and in keeping with the motto of “God’s Will First”.

On behalf of the government, President Waqa said 2019 will be a better year as it works together with the people to build and improve Nauru for the lives of its’ children.

In conclusion, the president conveyed best wishes and a very Merry Christmas for all Nauruans on island and abroad.
