Nauru celebrates Independence Day

A march and a parade were some of the events held in Nauru today to celebrate the country’s 49th Independence Day.

More than 20 government departments and organisations participated in the march.

President Baron Waqa led an official party that reviewed the Independence Day parade in front of parliament house.

Congratulatory messages have been pouring in from leaders and organisations.

Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO) tweeted Happy Independence Day Nauru. Especially wishing the Nauru National Private Sector Organisation and business community a successful year!

India’s High Commissioner to Fiji concurrently accredited to Nauru, Vishvas Sapkal tweeted Happy #IndependenceDay 2017 to Government & People of @Republic_Nauru from @HCI_Suva !! @MEAIndia @IndianDiplomacy

Today’s programme kicked off a week of celebrations in Nauru.
