The Nauru Government confirms it has called off Nauru’s hosting of the 2018 Oceania Powerlifting, Benchpress and Para Benchpress championship that was to be held from 10-15 December.
The decision comes following the revelation that the championships is not recognised by the International Powerlifting Federation and therefore renders the event and any results null and void.
All orders and arrangements for the event will now be discontinued.
The Nauru Government encourages and promotes sports on Nauru, therefore confirms that a powerlifting competition will be held in January 2019 as part of the nation’s 51st Independence Day celebrations.
