Digicel Shareholders receive dividend of AUD$702,528

Digicel Nauru Corporation on Thursday presented the payment of AUD$702,528 dividend to the Nauruan Government, underpinning its commitment to Nauru and her people.

Since 2009, Digicel has paid back more than USD$10 million to their local shareholder.

President of Nauru, Baron Divavesi Waqa, thanked Digicel’s contribution to communications in Nauru. His Excellency further thanked the owner of Digicel Mr Dennis O’Brien and the Board of Directors for bringing the cheque at an opportune time with the Pacific Island Forum just a week away coming up from the 3rd to the 6th Sept in Nauru.

Digicel Nauru CEO, Deepak Khanna, thanked President Waqa and the Cabinet Ministers for their precious time. He further stated “We are continually looking for ways to ensure that our customers and our communities benefit from our presence. As such, I must acknowledge the great passion and pride shown by our staff in Nauru as they worked to deliver these results over the past 6-months – and likewise the guidance and strategic support given by our board and management team. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our valued customers and business partners for their continued trust in and support to Digicel.”

In recent months, Digicel has invested a significant amount in network infrastructure upgrades and switching on to 4G+ with customers enjoying super-fast speeds and great value offers. Digicel is also active in the community with various grassroots sponsorships including sports and communities support.
