Elton John's Auckland show appears to have sold out, Dunedin show still on sale

Sir Elton John's Auckland show appears to have sold out.

At 10:30am on Thursday Ticketmaster was showing no available tickets.

Tickets for John's Dunedin show are still available.

General sale tickets for John's Auckland and Dunedin shows went on sale at 9am Thursday.

A number of people who were initially met with a "no tickets match your search" message were able to secure tickets later in the morning.

Rebekah Moore commented on Facebook, "Keep trying people, i just got some at 10.09!" while Ryton Barr encouraged people to "Go have another look, tickets are randomly popping up."

A number of others expressed relief they had purchased tickets during the pre-sale, meaning they didn't have to face this morning's mad dash.

The demand in Auckland and Wellington matches up with that seen with the Mission Concert earlier this week, where fans were left frustrated and angry after the ticketing platform crashed.

"In the process of handling this exceptional demand our ticketing company experienced a brief system malfunction on its queuing system," Mission Concert said in a statement. This malfunction resulted in people being pushed back in the queue, and in a number of cases, missing out on tickets altogether.

Controversial third party reseller Viagogo already has tickets listed for all three shows.

Anyone who purchases tickets from the website is at risk of being scammed.

Viagogo told Stuff:  "All tickets on Viagogo are valid and it is perfectly legal to resell a ticket or give it to someone else if you want to."
