Pacific youth to “Sound the Alarm”

Talented youths in the Pacific Islands have been encouraged to participate in a UN Pacific Regional Anti-Corruption (UN-PRAC) Project.

This is a music competition called “Sound the Alarm” which is open to Pacific youths between the ages of 18-35 and runs from Dec 1 2015, to Jan 16, 2016.  

Countries eligible to participate are PNG, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Federal States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

The competition calls on youths in the Pacific to share their views on corruption and suggest innovative solutions on how to address the issue through music by using their voices.

The song or music video must have an English title and either sung in English or native tongue.

It must be original and appropriate for all ages and background, have background music that is an original track and be longer than two minutes but not more than five minutes.

UN-PRAC states that all songs and music videos must be uploaded on www.youtube.com by Jan 15, 2016 and the announcement of winners will be made on Jan 29.

A panel of professionals selected by the UN-PRAC will assess the songs and music videos according to the selection criteria which include content, voice and singing ability and music video.

The winner will get to attend the 2016 Pacific Youth Forum in Fiji.
