Nauru medical students graduated from Cuba in Kiribati for internship

Kiribati’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services confirmed that medical students from Nauru who have graduated from Medical Schools in Cuba will be arriving in Tarawa for clinical teaching and training with the Ministry’s Kiribati Internship Training

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Kiribati Health Secretary Dr Teatao Tiira and Nauru’s Health Secretary Rayong Itsimaere on 04 July on Tarawa.

Nauru will be the second country after Tuvalu to send in its graduating medical students to Kiribati for internship training with KITP.

In 2014, Kiribati established its own internship training programme for medical students and has been operating since then with the assistance of the Australian and New Zealand governments and the Fiji National University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
