Contestants prepare for Miss Nauru pageant

Ten women are vying for the title of Miss Nauru 2016.

The contestants and their sponsors have been busy preparing for the Miss Nauru pageant with a series of meetings with the organisers.

The meetings with the Miss Nauru Organising Committee have covered a range of topics like behaviour and conduct of contestant and expectations of contestants and their sponsors.

Contestants have found the meetings somewhat stressful but exciting as they are groomed to walk, talk and try and win the hearts of judges and Nauruans.

The contestants have also had practical sessions on table etiquette at a recent luncheon and dinner.

Reigning Miss Nauru 2014, Kauai Oppenheimer hosted the dinner to introduce the contestants of the Miss Nauru 2016 beauty pageant.

The function was organised by the Organising Committee to give the contestants an opportunity to meet the public and gain some confidence in the lead up to a talent show and the pageant night itself.

Oppenheimer and two contestants performed items for guests.

A duet was also performed by Miss Nauru Olympic Committee, Vianka Temaki, and Miss Chief Secretary’s Department, Lucina Detsiogo.

The contestants have also had their closed interviews where they were asked a range of questions and given scores accordingly.

On Saturday, they will be able to showcase their talents at the Talent Night at Jules Bar & Grill.

Tickets have sold out but the Talent show will be filmed and replayed on pageant night, Thursday, 4 February at the Centennial Hall in Aiwo.

The pageant night is open to the public.
