Pacific Games Torch relay aimed at engaging Samoans

The Pacific Games Torch is a way of getting the support of the people of Samoa for the regional sporting meet.

Team Samoa Chef de Samoa, Nynette Sass says the torch will stop over in all around the islands to let the people know that the games is around the corner.

“The torch relay is being handled by our Ministry of Education and Sports and it started off at the mass to bless the torch and on to Savai’i. It navigates Savai’I for a few days and when it comes back to the Island, it will then go across to Manono and then it will come back and make it round in the main Island.”

“It’s just a way to get the people behind our team and rally and get the support,” she said.

Sass also confirms that Team Samoa will be fielding 502 athletes and 44 percent are women.
